My name is Alex Chevrier, a french Software Engineer based in Hong-Kong SAR China. I’m currently a consultant for a private invesmtment firm, my role is to maitain two projects related to the communication of information between China and the rest of the world. One project is file sending/pulling and the other project is data pulling/sending via Kafka + Kafka Connect.

My previous role was working as a consultant for an international bank on a 24/7 FX+ product. The stack was Java 11, Spring Boot, Oracle SQL, Websphere MQ deployed on a private cloud. I helped gathering knowledge on how to build an infrastructure for the test environment with documentation (step-by-step from scratch) with knowledge sharing sessions.

I also have experience on the front-end and was a team leader of two amazing front-end engineer, working on a back-office application for a reporting investment platform.

Recently my interest outside of work is deepening my knowledge of back-end via implementing learning projects such as a file transfering project as well as a mini-kafka implementation. I have also just finished reading the ‘Operating Systems: Three Easy Pieces’ which was an amazing book and gave me the will go one step further in my learning journey!

I spend most of my time taking care of my newborn and when I have some time spare like to indulge in some beginner calisthenics workout and video games.
